About The Position

Plantation Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is an EEO Employer - M/F/Disability/Protected Veteran Status POSITION: CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA) REPORTS TO: NURSE IN CHARGE SUPERVISED BY: REGISTERED NURSE (RN) OR LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN) GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY: A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a professional worker who performs basic nursing tasks under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse. Responsibilities include attending to the personal needs of residents, procuring and returning equipment, running errands, and assisting with the general maintenance of the nursing unit. We offer competitive pay for our 12-hour shifts.

Requirements

  • Certification or eligibility for certification in the State of Florida.
  • Male and female are both eligible.
  • Skin test and/or chest x-ray and physical examination required.
  • Must be able to move and lift residents.
  • Must have adequate hearing and vision.
  • It must be neat and clean in appearance.
  • Can follow simple instructions.
  • Can read, write, and speak grammatical English.
  • Pastel pink uniform or pastel pink top with white slacks.
  • Hose required.
  • White shoes of substantial style.
  • No sandals, open-toe shoes, or other colored shoes.
  • Shoes must be kept polished, and shoelaces must be kept clean and tidy.
  • Uniforms should fit properly, neither too tight nor too loose, and have the appropriate length.
  • Nails must be short and clean.
  • Polish may be worn if kept neat and clean.
  • Hair must be arranged neatly.
  • Since your work requires close contact with others, we encourage the use of deodorant and discourage the use of heavy colognes, which may be offensive to others.
  • Pins or other costume jewelry are not permitted.
  • Cosmetics should be used attractively.
  • Constant contact with residents, visitors, co-workers, and nursing home staff.
  • Freedom from illegal use of drugs, and freedom from use and effects of the use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
  • Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a healthcare-related setting are ineligible for employment in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Provides hygienic care: bathing, assisting with toothbrushing, back rubs, offering water for hand and face washing, and combing hair.
  • Gives, removes, and cleans bedpan.
  • Prepares residents for meals and assists them with eating.
  • Assists the RN in the care of residents as directed.
  • Reports all observations concerning residents to a Charge Nurse.
  • Makes beds, occupied and unoccupied.
  • Assists patients in moving and turning, getting in and out of bed, and walking as needed.
  • Keeps water pitchers clean and filled with fresh drinking water.
  • Answers signal lights on assigned residents and other residents.
  • Meets resident's requests if within their function or reports requests to a Charge Nurse.
  • Collects specimens as directed (urine, stool, sputum).
  • Measures and records fluid intake and output of residents.
  • (Distributes and collects intake and output record slips for nurses upon request).
  • Assists residents to undress.
  • Transports residents ready for discharge to their car.
  • Serves in-between meal nourishments as directed.
  • Gives enemas and reports results to nurse.
  • Cares for residents in isolation.
  • Obtains clean supplies and returns nursing equipment to designated areas.
  • Strips resident's unit after resident is discharged.
  • Cleans and sterilizes bedside utensils, making the unit ready for new occupancy.
  • Assists in keeping the department neat and clean by cleaning the bedside units and nursing equipment and maintaining order in service areas (utility room, linen room, and kitchen).
  • Assists in keeping residents' flowers fresh and watered.
  • Charts pertinent information on the flow sheet as directed by the Charge Nurse.
  • Other duties assigned Note: Selection of activities concerning resident care is made by the Nurse responsible for the performance of the aide. Selection is based on the nature of the care to be given and the ability of the aide.
