The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assists patients in their move toward independence by setting realistic goals and treatment plans. This role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team, often coordinating patient care and team activities. The CNA works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, performing multi-skilled duties within the limits of training and certification to care for patients. This includes assisting the nursing team with various patient care activities and related services essential for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients. Specific tasks include assisting patients with personal hygiene, dressing, and walking, changing bed linens, and helping with patient transportation for tests and procedures. CNAs may also serve and collect food trays, provide between-meal nourishment, and record temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse. This is a PRN (as-needed) position, requiring availability to work at least 12 hours bi-weekly, with work hours varying based on departmental demands and the possibility of additional hours if requested by a supervisor.
