About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in supporting healthcare teams by providing direct patient care and assisting with clinical tasks to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. This position involves working closely with nurses and other medical staff to monitor patients' conditions, perform routine procedures, and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients. The PCT is responsible for collecting vital signs, assisting with mobility and hygiene, and communicating effectively with patients and healthcare professionals. This role requires compassion, attention to detail, and the ability to respond promptly to patient needs. Ultimately, the PCT contributes significantly to the overall patient experience and the efficient operation of healthcare facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred but not required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Experience working in hospitals, long-term care, or outpatient clinics.
  • Additional certifications such as phlebotomy or EKG technician.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
  • Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates.
  • Support nursing staff by preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Transport patients to different areas within the healthcare facility as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of patient rooms and equipment.
  • Observe and report any changes in patients’ conditions to the nursing team promptly.
  • Assist with specimen collection and perform basic laboratory tests under supervision.
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
