About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in supporting healthcare teams by providing direct patient care and assisting with clinical and non-clinical tasks. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a hospital, long-term care, or acute care setting.
  • Additional certifications such as Phlebotomy Technician or EKG Technician.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding to promote comfort and dignity.
  • Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration, reporting any abnormalities to nursing staff.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by ensuring they are properly positioned and comfortable.
  • Collect specimens such as blood, urine, or sputum for laboratory testing following established protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and clinical areas to uphold infection control standards.
  • Support nursing staff with clinical tasks such as wound care, catheter care, and EKG administration as delegated.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide emotional support and education regarding care plans.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and timely in electronic health records or paper charts.
