About The Position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in supporting healthcare teams by providing direct patient care and assisting with clinical and non-clinical tasks. This position is essential in ensuring patients receive compassionate, high-quality care while maintaining a safe and comfortable environment. The PCT collaborates closely with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to monitor patient conditions and report any changes promptly. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in a hospital, long-term care, or acute care setting.
- Additional certifications such as Phlebotomy Technician or EKG Technician.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding to promote comfort and dignity.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration, reporting any abnormalities to nursing staff.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by ensuring they are properly positioned and comfortable.
- Collect specimens such as blood, urine, or sputum for laboratory testing following established protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and clinical areas to uphold infection control standards.
- Support nursing staff with clinical tasks such as wound care, catheter care, and EKG administration as delegated.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide emotional support and education regarding care plans.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely in electronic health records or paper charts.
