About The Position

The Certified Medication Technician (CMT) is responsible for administering prescribed medications to patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with all facility, company, and regulatory standards. The CMT ensures accurate documentation, observes patients for medication effects, and promotes a safe, therapeutic environment.. Performance Expectations: Administers medications accurately and safely under the direction of licensed nursing staff in accordance with physician orders, facility protocol, and state regulations. Observes patients for medication side effects, adverse reactions, and changes in condition and reports concerns promptly to nursing staff. Accurately documents all medication administration and patient responses in the medical record. Assists with medication inventory, storage, monitoring of expiration dates, and controlled substance accountability as assigned. Maintains a safe and clean medication administration environment. Follows CFG Health, facility, custody, and regulatory policies and procedures. Maintains patient confidentiality and protects sensitive health information at all times. Communicates effectively with nursing staff, custody staff, providers, and patients. Participates in shift reports, staff meetings, and required in-service training. Responds appropriately to emergencies, including medical or behavioral incidents. Supports infection control practices and safety standards. Demonstrates professional conduct, reliability, and accountability. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Current Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification required per state regulations
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug screening per facility and company requirements
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of medication administration principles and safety practices
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Previous healthcare or correctional experience preferred
