About The Position

The CMT is responsible for adhering to VOA Mid-States policies and procedures, as well as the regulations and guidelines of the Kentucky Board of Nursing, due to the medication monitoring under the delegation of a Registered Nurse. The Certified Medical Technician (CMT) provides direct medical support to individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring behavioral health conditions in a residential treatment setting. The CMT assists licensed nursing and medical staff with medication administration, health monitoring, documentation, MAT/MOUD coordination, and client support in alignment with Kentucky regulations, trauma-informed practices, and program standards. Schedule / Hours Monday–Friday: Morning shift: 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM Evening shift: 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM Rotating weekend coverage during the same morning and evening hours Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and rotating weekends is required to support residential programming, medication monitoring times, and client care needs

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current Certified Medication Technician (CMT) credential
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record required.
  • Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Experience with electronic health records.
  • Knowledge of addiction, withdrawal symptoms, recovery models and trauma-informed care.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of prior experience in a treatment facility, or comparable specialized knowledge and experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely monitor prescribed medications in accordance with Kentucky regulations and scope of practice.
  • Support MAT processes under licensed staff supervision.
  • Conduct medication counts, maintain secure storage, and reconcile prescriptions accurately.
  • Monitor clients for medication adherence, side effects, and potential adverse reactions.
  • Assist nursing staff in observation and documentation for detox and stabilization protocols.
  • Participate in routine wellness checks and daily medical monitoring schedules.
  • Observe and promptly report health, behavioral, or safety concerns to nursing manager.
  • Provide compassionate support to clients experiencing withdrawal, psychological distress, or co-occurring symptoms.
  • Monitor clients with co-occurring mental health needs and report changes in behavior or psychiatric presentation.
  • Support crisis stabilization procedures in collaboration with nursing manager and clinical staff.
  • Maintain a trauma-informed, recovery-focused approach that promotes dignity and respect.
  • Complete timely and accurate medical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Follow HIPAA regulations, confidentiality standards, and ethical care practices.
  • Maintain compliance with Kentucky DBHDID requirements, Medicaid guidelines, and accreditation standards (CARF/AODE/ASAM/BHSO as applicable).
  • Participate in audits, medication reviews, and compliance checks as needed.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness to client needs.
