About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant provides essential clinical and administrative support within the residential program to ensure safe, effective, and coordinated medical care for members. This role supports nursing and medical staff by assisting with health assessments, medication-related processes, documentation, and resident education, while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and promoting a therapeutic, respectful, and recovery-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be a Certified Medical Assistant
  • Must have a Non-IVP Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card upon hire
  • Must be insurable
  • Must have current BLS and First Aide Certification or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Must have valid Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Must have knowledge of Substance Use Disorders
  • Must have an understanding of the behavioral health field
  • Must have excellent computer and customer service skills and be able to demonstrate those skills
  • Must have experience with an electronic medical record system

Responsibilities

  • Maintain close collaboration and communication with the Nursing and Residential Program staff.
  • Assist nursing staff with clinical tasks, including but not limited to, vital signs, health screenings, obtaining medical histories, and specimen collection.
  • Performs intake support, including obtaining medical histories, documenting allergies, and collecting required health information.
  • Assists nurses in ensuring that members follow their medication administration regimen.
  • Facilitate medication windows and oversee member self-administration of medication
  • Monitor inventory of medical supplies including stock medications and place restock orders as necessary.
  • Assist nurses with placing orders for member medications and completing medication order reviews.
  • Monitor inventory of member medications, complete reminders for member, and assists with ordering refills.
  • Update member Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) list at least weekly and as indicated and notify team members of changes
  • Assists with coordination of medical appointments, lab work, and follow-up care.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Supports infection control practices, including cleaning clinical areas and following universal precautions.
  • Assists with health education for members as directed by nursing or medical staff.
  • Provide member transportation to and from scheduled appointments, as necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards related to medical services.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and communicates relevant medical updates.
  • Assists with audits, quality assurance activities, and regulatory reviews as requested.
  • Responds appropriately to medical emergencies within scope of practice and facility protocols.
  • Maintains current certification, training, and competencies required for the role.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager.
