About The Position

We are hiring a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team of talented medical professionals. This role involves assisting practitioners who conduct one-time, non-treatment Veteran Disability Exams in Lancaster PA. The CMA will assist providers with patient preparation for examination, minor office procedures, and patient education. Responsibilities include performing selected patient and laboratory testing such as electrocardiography, pulmonary function tests, and vision acuity testing. Under onsite provider supervision, the CMA may also perform phlebotomy, including venipuncture, pulmonary function tests (PFT), ankle brachial index (ABI), electrocardiograms (EKG), and vital sign measurement and documentation. The position also entails escorting/chaperoning patients, supporting the clinical care team, and providing clerical support as a backup for the Administrative Assistant or other team members.

Requirements

  • Maintains unrestricted and in good standing certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) (if required by state of operation).
  • Phlebotomy Certification from accrediting training course, when required by state requirements.
  • Active/Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Must be able to successfully pass National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and ability/willingness to drive between work locations.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant clinical experience (i.e., Primary Care, Family Care, Internal Medicine, Occupational Health, or Urgent Care).
  • Willingness to complete CAOCH and Drug Testing Collection Certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Veterans, Service Members and Federal Employees.
  • Previous experience performing EKG, PFTs, ABIs, venipuncture, lab processing, etc.
  • Current certification in Audio and Drug Testing Collection.

Responsibilities

  • Assist practitioners who conduct one-time, non-treatment Veteran Disability Exams.
  • Assist providers with patient preparation for examination, minor office procedures, and with the examination and education of patients.
  • Perform selected patient and laboratory testing consistent with the scope of the practice, including but not limited to electrocardiography, pulmonary function tests, and vision acuity testing (dependent upon provider and site requirements).
  • Under onsite provider supervision, perform phlebotomy, including venipuncture; pulmonary function test (PFT), ankle brachial index (ABI) and electrocardiograms (EKG), measurement, and documentation of vital signs.
  • Provide escorting/chaperoning for patients per policy.
  • Support other members of the clinical care team, assuring optimal best practices.
  • Provide clerical support and serve as backup for the Administrative Assistant or other team members as needed.
