About The Position

Bebashi – Transition to Hope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing culturally sensitive health and social services to individuals in Philadelphia. We focus on empowering communities with access to healthcare, education, and resources to promote overall well-being. Bebashi Transition to Hope is seeking a dedicated and experienced Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. Position Summary: The CMA provides clinical and administrative support to ensure the delivery of high quality, client-centered healthcare services within a nonprofit social services environment. This role supports healthcare providers by assisting with patient care, clinical procedures, documentation, and care coordination while upholding organizational values related to equity, access, trauma-informed care, and community health. The CMA must maintain active medical assisting certification and demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and cultural humility when serving diverse and underserved populations.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) from an accredited program, Required.
  • Minimum of three (3+) years of experience in clinical or healthcare setting, supporting medical practice.
  • Proficiency in HER systems and basic computer applications
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, infection control, and patient safety standards
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse, vulnerable, and underserved populations
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs as required in a clinical setting
  • Manual dexterity to perform clinical procedures
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends, if required by program needs

Responsibilities

  • Perform general patient care following established procedures.
  • Greet and prepare patients for healthcare providers.
  • Obtain and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, current medications, and presenting problems.
  • Draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines through various methods.
  • Perform routine tests, including EKGs.
  • Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and ensure follow-up to completion.
  • Communicate with patients regarding test results and plans of care as directed.
  • Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments, maintain equipment, and keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean, and orderly.
  • Document patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record.
  • Escalate non-routine issues, questions, or concerns to Manager.
  • Ensure safety checklists and quality controls are completed as required.
  • Uphold patient safety and privacy rights.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Manager or requested by healthcare providers.
