About The Position

Bebashi-Transition to Hope is a multi-purpose health and social services agency. We provide culturally sensitive health-related information, direct services, education, research, and technical assistance to reduce and eliminate HIV/AIDS as well as other health disparities, such as breast cancer and hunger, within the urban community of Philadelphia and vicinity. Bebashi Transition to Hope is seeking an experienced and self-motivated non-profit Accountant to provide oversight of the financial operations of the organization. The Accountant will report to the Director of Finance/ President & CEO FLSA Status: Exempt The Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the organization through accurate accounting, reporting, compliance, and internal controls. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization and ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, grant requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The Accountant works closely with the Director of Finance to support budgeting, audits, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting operations. The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, required.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of accounting experience, required. (nonprofit experience preferred)
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks)and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger, prepare routine and adjusting journal entries
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll entries
  • Review transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with internal controls
  • Prepare standard financial reports, schedules, and variance analyses
  • Support preparation of internal management reports for leadership and the Board
  • Assist in preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit standards
  • Track restricted and unrestricted funds, ensuring proper classification and reporting
  • Support grant accounting, including tracking expenditures and preparing grant-related reports
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including nonprofit and funding requirements
  • Assist with annual audits, reviews, and external examinations
  • Maintain organized documentation to support audits and internal reviews
  • Assist the Director of Finance with annual budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Monitor budget-to-actual performance and flag variances
  • Support financial planning initiatives as assigned
  • Follow established accounting policies and procedures
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency
  • Support internal controls and segregation of duties
  • Assist with special projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed
