About The Position

Full Time Day 8am - 4:30pm; Monday - Friday; REQUIRES: Certified Medical Assistant AND 2 years related experience; prior neurology or patient navigation experience preferred. Provides direct patient care and clinical support for physicians and other providers in the outpatient setting while coordinating patient care to maximize satisfaction and experience. Functions as an integral member of the healthcare team under the direction of the provider, serving as a liaison between patients, providers, and administrative personnel to ensure effective communication and smooth transitions of care. Performs clinical duties, supports administrative processes, and develops efficient patient navigation procedures to optimize access and utilization. Obtains and documents patient information, including reason for visit, vital signs, medication review, and screening data in the electronic medical record. Assists patients in preparing for visits, ensuring safety, privacy, and comfort. Provides direct patient care as directed by the provider, including EKGs, wound dressings, minor procedures, and ancillary examinations. Prepares and administers medications (excluding IV) and performs tests and treatments per provider orders. Collects and prepares laboratory specimens, performs phlebotomy, and assists with lab-related functions. Reinforces patient education and instructions as directed by the provider. Partners with providers to ensure smooth discharge transitions to home or other facilities. Maintains systems for timely follow-up and surveillance of defined patient groups. Serves as liaison with clinical and administrative personnel and establishes points of contact for referring providers. Investigates and resolves patient concerns related to billing, appointment access, communication, and perception of care. Develops and audits standard operating procedures for patient access and utilization. Schedules appointments, completes referrals and pre-authorizations, and collects co-payments. Provides clerical support including filing reports, managing documentation, and responding to patient inquiries. Assists with orientation of new personnel and supports efficient clinic operations. Inventories medical/surgical supplies and non-controlled pharmaceuticals, ensuring compliance with safety and infection prevention protocols. Prepares and cleans instruments, follows sterilization and disinfection protocols, and maintains examination rooms. Observes and reports equipment condition for preventive maintenance.
