About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in Neurology provides assistance in the examination and treatment of patients, under Physician/Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner supervision, in the ambulatory service clinical setting. Certified Medical Assistant duties include : chart review before patient clinical visit; assisting physician with procedures/treatments; equipment operation; assisting patients in preparation for examination/procedure; performs venipuncture; specimen collection and submission to appropriate laboratory; cleaning and sterilization of instrumentation; order and inventory supplies; records and documents in medical record; maintains examination/procedure room supplies; assists with efficient patient flow; assists with orientation of new staff; and participates in quality assurance programs. Shift: Full Time (40 hours) Day Shift; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Weekend Work Not Required

Requirements

  • Work requires a high school level of educational development and graduation from an accredited medical assistant training program with less than 6 months experience.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant by an approved national examination agency required.
  • Current CPr/ BLS Certificaton
  • Work requires the ability to gather and exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain medical center polices, and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel.
  • This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or medical center employees.
