About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse will be working in the WellStar Department. This candidate will work with the treatment team to support our patients' medical and psychological needs. This will include ensuring proper documentation as required by state and federal law, intake of patients and their initial medical history, responding to messages and calls and communicating them based on urgency. Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, and records requests. Assist with capturing Point-of-Care lab tests, injections, and vital signs. This position will work Monday-Friday, 11:30PM-7:30AM. Requirements

  • Valid Alabama Nurse License with at least two years' experience preferred, if applicable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer experience to include electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office
  • Candidates certified by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) with some experience in the field preferred but not required.
  • A copy of your current Medical Assistant Certificate must be provided along with your application.
  • Selected Certified Medical Assistant/Registered Medical Assistant candidate will be required to obtain either the AAMA CMA or AMT RMA certification within 90 days of hire to be reimbursed upon obtaining certification.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain Ha1c, vital signs, and drug screens for clients during registration.
  • Make referral to Case Manager if needed for abnormal lab values
  • Make request for supply orders.
  • Complete and maintain documentation in a timely manner.
  • Assist with messages and prior authorizations.
  • Coverage for other nurses if necessary.
  • May interface with local physician offices and laboratories to obtain lab results/coordinate care.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Complete all yearly trainings.
  • Maintain licensure/certification.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
