About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) assists in the delivery of health care to patients by performing administrative and routine clinical tasks. The CMA In Basket performs appropriate tasks, for top of credential/role, associated with the in basket and patient electronic medical records. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE Addresses in-scope messaging using standard workflow. Serves as initial reviewer of all in basket messages assigned to the care team. Identifies messages appropriate for top of license role. Inserts patient education as instructed by physician. Marks status of in basket messages appropriately so other care team members can identify ownership of actions needed. Matures and routes messages not in scope to appropriate team member, pool or provider. Documents clearly and efficiently in the electronic medical record. Coordinates referrals and prior authorizations (per clinic workflow). Completes FMLA, home health and other paperwork. Executes standing delegated orders. Addresses pend/plan orders and associated diagnosis codes. Performs administrative duties such as patient calls, Mychart notifications, relaying messages. Serves as initial owner of care gap closure for assigned patient panels. May be required to perform in-clinic CMA duties as outlined in the CMA job descriptions. KEY SUCCESS FACTORS Ability to successfully manage in basket activity per scope and licensure. Adheres to and understands in basket productivity measures and turnaround time targets. Knowledge of principles of safe and accurate medical administration. Knowledge of the five rights: right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, and right time. Ability to accurately document patient information in accordance with organizational policies, regulations and procedures. Familiarity with HIPPA regulations. Ability to give injections and draw blood. Knowledge of medical terminology. Good listening and interpersonal communication (oral and written) skills. Ability to promptly assess requests by using electronic and paper resource materials and correctly respond to patient inquiries. Excellent data entry, numeric, typing and computer navigational skills with attention to details. Comfortable working in a fast paced and changing environment.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • 2 Years of Experience
  • Ability to successfully manage in basket activity per scope and licensure.
