Requirements

  • Medical assistant certification at the time of hire or the ability to achieve a medical assistant certification with support from Rogue Community Health.
  • Required to complete a criminal background check, and pre-employment drug screen once a conditional offer is accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in team Huddles, work with the team to ensure appropriate pre-visit preparation including culturally and linguistically appropriate services
  • Complete intake interview for new and returning patients according to established procedure including counseling patients/families on their role, and RCH’s role, in a medical home (Patient Centered Medical Home Brochure insert)
  • Prepare patients for examinations consistent with the purpose of the appointment
  • Record all pertinent elements of the patient encounter into EMR by providing real time charting for provider
  • Responsible for knowing and following clinical policy and procedure, including documenting all patient interactions in Epic in a manner consistent with professional standards
  • Perform related duties necessary to ensure quality patient care as requested by supervisor, including addressing barriers when the patient has not met treatment goals
  • Assist providers with exams of patients or any special procedures
  • Process phone calls or MyChart communications from patients, routing as appropriate, and responding in a timely manner
  • “Ready” refill requests per Epic procedure
  • Administer treatments including, nebulizer, oral medications, pediatric and adult vaccines at the direction of the RN or provider
  • Perform screening tests including vision, audiometry, EKG, pulse OX, and peak flow meter at the direction of the provider
  • Clean and stock rooms, disinfect exam room tables, treatment and lab surfaces daily
  • Schedule qualified patients for appointments based on established protocol, identified need, and availability of appointments; follow up with patients/families who have not kept important appointments
  • Perform supervised laboratory procedures as approved by the Laboratory Manager
  • Prepare and sterilize clinical instruments. Review expiration dates for sterilized equipment and re-sterilize equipment as needed to ensure a readily available supply of sterile instruments
  • Assist with Medication Assistance Programs
  • Openly, clearly and respectfully share and receive information, opinions, concerns and feedback in a supportive manner
  • Work collaboratively by mentoring new and existing co-workers, building bridges and creating rapport with team members across the organization
