Requirements

  • Can commute to local clinics regularly for assigned tasks efficiently as directed.
  • Possessing a certification from a recognized program like AAMA or AMT is required for medical assistants.
  • Well-versed in delivering safe and accurate medical care.
  • Understanding the five rights in healthcare is crucial: giving the right medicine to the correct patient in the proper amount.
  • Ability to document patient details accurately, following organizational policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Understanding of the rules of patient privacy laws.
  • Ability to evaluate patients' health, notifying nurse of abnormalities in physical state.
  • Proficiency in administering injections and drawing blood.
  • Understanding of medical terminologies.
  • Exceptional patient interaction skills, making patients comfortable and easing their anxieties, presenting a friendly, reassuring, and approachable demeanor.
  • Ability to follow instructions from doctors.
  • Familiarity with medical charts and records.
  • Precision and close attention to detail.
  • H.S. Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • (2) two years of experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain within (30) thirty days of hire or transfer.
  • Cert Medical Assistant (CMA): Must be a CMA from list below:
  • Nat Cert Med Asst (NCMA) from NCCT
  • Cert Med Asst (CMA) from AAMA or ARMA
  • Cert Cln Med Asst (CCMA) from NHA
  • Reg Med Asst (RMA) from AMT, AAMP or AAH
  • Nat Reg Cert Med Asst (NRCMA) from NAHP
  • Cln Med Asst Cert (CMAC) from AMCA.

Responsibilities

  • Help clinics in various areas and provide needed support.
  • Aid in patient care under a physician's guidance.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for exams by cleaning and restocking.
  • Monitor inventory levels for supplies, equipment, and instruments.
  • Assist patients, guiding them to the examination room and recording important data for their medical records.
  • Prepare charts and forms.
  • Measure patients' vital signs, like pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height.
  • Record these to prepare them for exams, tests, and x-rays.
  • Perform routine patient testing, like electrocardiograms, blood specimens, and urine samples.
  • Administer oral, rectal medications, injections, and vaccinations.
  • Identify and report any adverse reactions.
  • Answer telephones, relay messages, and schedule patient appointments.
  • Help with team meetings.
  • Manage workflows, schedules, and train staff.
  • Proactively identify problems and improve processes.
