About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant will perform delegated clinical and administrative duties consistent with Medical Assistant program education, training, and experience. This role may involve working in both the clinical and front office functions of the practice, providing clerical support, assisting in the delivery of health care, and performing patient care support activities at the direction of the physician/provider. The incumbent will perform duties in accordance with the specific needs of the practice. If working in the Rural Health Clinic setting, BLS through the American Heart Association will be required. This position is a float role, requiring travel to several Primary Care practices within the Central Market, including various clinics and towns in the area. Mileage and a differential in pay will be provided as compensation for the float position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certificate of completion or Diploma from a medical assistant program OR Completion of Guild MedCerts medical assistant certification course AND certificate of completion from OSF applied learning program OR Education equivalency: at least 6 months experience in Certified Medical Assistant role OR proof of completion of on-the-job training/education program for certified medical assisting in another healthcare organization
  • Current certification by one of the following approved certifying agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), earning CMA credential; American Medical Technologists (AMT), earning RMA credential; National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), earning NCMA credential; National HealthCare Association (NHA), earning CCMA credential; National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP); American Allied Health (AAH)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented
  • If working in the Rural Health Clinic setting, will be required to have BLS through the American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent
  • Previous experience with an electronic health record
  • Phlebotomy experience
