About The Position

Join our awesome team at the Stony Point Multispecialty Surgery Clinic! We provide care to patients for a variety of surgical services to include urology, bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, transplant surgery, wound care and endocrinology. Our team members collaborate with NPs, PAs, MDs, ostomony and wound care nurses, transplant coordinators and nurse navigators to meet our patients needs and provide the utmost quality of care. We are a small team of RNs, LPNs and CMAs that continues to grow as we look to increase our provider presence and expand our range of procedures to include vasectomy, cystoscopy, stent pulls and more! By joining our team, you will become a part of a close-knit clinical staff that is continuously learning by working with a range of surgical patients. Our clinic is open Monday-Friday and no weekends, nights or holidays are required. Our team members enjoy free onsite parking at our Stony Point campus. The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician.

Requirements

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as, the American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists, The National Association of Healthcare Professions, the American Registry of Medical Assistants, or the National Healthcare Association.
  • AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
  • One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if individual is not a graduate of a medical assistant program
  • No work experience if individual is a graduate of a medical assistant program
  • Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft, e-mail, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) to three (3) years of previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant
  • Previous experience in an academic health care environment
  • Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program from an accredited program of study such as the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician.
  • Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.
  • Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies.
