About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician. Independent action(s) required: Functions under direction of a licensed independent, practitioner, manager and/or RN in providing patient care Emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing, and unit policy/procedure. Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor: Time/schedule changes; legal issues; directed care which deviates from, standard; and identify educational resources to meet developmental needs. Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies. Additional position requirements: Medical Assistants work all three shifts, weekends and, holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established, with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations, and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet clinic, requirements and/or as needed. Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate): Physical: Lifting 20-50 lbs. Activities: Prolonged standing, Prolonged sitting, Frequent bending, Walking (distance), Climbing (steps, ladder, other), Reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), Repetitive motion Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinking Emotional: Fast pace environment, Able to handle multiple priorities, Able to adapt to frequent change Days EEO Employer/Disabled/Protected Veteran/41 CFR 60-1.4.

Requirements

  • AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
  • One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if the individual is not a graduate of an accredited medical assistant program. No prior work experience required if the individual is a graduate of an accredited medical assistant program.
  • Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft, e-mail, etc.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program from an accredited program of study such as the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
