Duke Health Integrated Practice comprises more than 110 primary and specialty outpatient clinics, extending the reach of Duke Health's mission across the state of North Carolina. We are seeking a Medical Assistant, Certified in our Endocrine Engagement Center clinic located in Durham, NC. The Medical Assistant, Certified, performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System remote practice that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly. The Triage Nurse position is based in Durham, NC at a non-clinical office site.

Requirements

Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
High school or GED graduation required.
Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required. Please indicate on resume which certification you have, the certification number, and expiration date.
BLS required
Level I -- No experience required.
Level II -- 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

Perform telephone message taking with patients, document encounter, follow protocols and escalation plans established by clinic leadership
Manage telephone calls and in basket messages within scope.
Forms management
Participates in performance improvement projects.
Obtain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment as indicated.
