About The Position

The jobholder must be able to communicate effectively with machine operators, production supervisors, outside contractors, management, and other plant maintenance personnel. Mechanics must exercise considerable judgement and problem-solving skills when supervision is not available. Working conditions can vary from extremely hot/humid to extremely cold work.

Requirements

  • Communicate effectively with machine operators, production supervisors, outside contractors, management, and other plant maintenance personnel.
  • Exercise considerable judgement and problem-solving skills when supervision is not available.
  • Maintenance of pneumatics, hydraulics, AC frequency drives, instrumentation
  • Welding and fabrication abilities (arc, MIG, TIG, oxyacetylene, etc.)
  • Work with industrial electricity (master controls) to troubleshoot and repair electrical components and machinery including all three phase 480, 220, and other plant systems
  • Strong background in rebuilding gears, motors, conveyors, reducers, bearings and other mechanical components
  • PLC experience (programming and troubleshooting)
  • Able to read and comprehend standard operating procedures, equipment manuals, schematics, etc.
  • Works as a self-starter and is required to find work when none has been given

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment and facilities
  • Performs general and preventative maintenance to assure minimal downtime
  • Determine root cause and formulate corrective actions for all equipment failures that consist of either PM development, Operator/Technician training, or engineering out the failure
  • Maintains proper records and files
  • Promotes and exhibits strong personal and food safety practices. No shortcuts
  • Ensures timely and proper completion of work orders
  • Maintenance of pneumatics, hydraulics, AC frequency drives, instrumentation
  • Welding and fabrication abilities (arc, MIG, TIG, oxyacetylene, etc.)
