Horizon is Idaho’s EMPLOYER OF CHOICE and we want you to join us as we PROVIDE LIFE CHANGING SERVICE to all those we touch Position Summary The Hyperbaric Technician is responsible for the safe and effective operation of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) chambers and for providing direct patient care before, during, and after hyperbaric treatments. This role requires a current EMT license and/or LPN license, strong clinical observation skills, and the ability to respond appropriately to patient needs and emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Current, active EMT license (Basic or higher) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
  • CPR/BLS certification (ACLS preferred or required within a defined timeframe)
  • Ability to obtain required hyperbaric certification within an established period (if not already certified)
  • Strong communication, assessment, and patient care skills
  • Ability to work in a clinical environment with exposure to pressurized oxygen systems

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in hyperbaric medicine, wound care, emergency services, or critical care
  • CHS (Certified Hyperbaric Specialist) or CHT training (or willingness to obtain)
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments, including education on procedures and safety protocols
  • Operate and monitor monoplace or multiplace hyperbaric chambers in accordance with established policies, procedures, and safety regulations
  • Monitor patient vital signs, condition, and tolerance during treatment
  • Document patient care, treatment parameters, and clinical observations accurately in the medical record
  • Assist with emergency procedures and respond promptly to adverse events during hyperbaric treatments
  • Perform routine equipment checks, maintenance coordination, and safety inspections of hyperbaric systems
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, infection control standards, and facility policies
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, wound care staff, and other interdisciplinary team members
  • Participate in ongoing training, competency assessments, and hyperbaric safety drills
  • Support general clinic operations as needed
