About The Position

The Certified Endoscopy Technician supports the Department of Gastroenterology in the SurgiCenters, by providing management of the scopes and scope disinfectant equipment at each SurgiCenter. This position ensures that all duties related to the supply of scopes and equipment management, are accurately, efficiently and productively performed. This position cleans, maintains and participates in the Endoscope Reprocessing and High Level Disinfection Process. The Certified Endoscopy Technician is responsible to perform an annual Endoscope Reprocessing and High Level Disinfection Competency and demonstrate equipment and Flexible Endoscope competency. This position ensures the working order of the endoscopy equipment and supplies. This position reports broken equipment and expired supplies to the Team Lead or designee. This position supports the GI endoscopy team by assisting with patient care related duties and procedures as requested or necessary. The Certified Endoscopy Technician assists the physician and registered nurse during Endoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and delivers care in a prompt and professional manner. Duties include but are not limited to; assisting with laboratory specimens, decontamination and High Level Disinfection of equipment, ensuring availability of supplies, and other support functions as given. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified registered central sterile technician certification CRCST or CBSPDT required AND Endoscope Reprocessing Certification required within 12 months of hire (or) Endoscope Reprocessing Technician Certification Required at time of hire
  • BLSHCP required with 60 days from date of hire or transfer
  • Minimum 6 months endoscope reprocessing experience and a Certification in Endoscope Reprocessing at time of hire or transfer OR 3 months of Sterile Processing department experience AND a Sterile Processing Certification at time of hire or transfer.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
