Requirements

• Certified Anesthesia Assistant (CAA) or Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA).
• Current certification with the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• An active and unencumbered CAA license in the state of employment
• No flagged or under investigation licenses.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain productivity and focus under challenging circumstances.
• Proficiency in anesthesia equipment and medication administration.
• Ability to adapt to different hospital environments and anesthesia protocols.
• Completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in a related field such as nursing, pre-med or biology.
• Completion of an accredited Anesthesiologist Assistant program.
• Master of Science in Anesthesiologist Assistant Studies.

Responsibilities

• Broad case mix including but not limited to, orthopedics, spine, general and urology.
• Work alongside anesthesiologists to administer anesthesia and monitor patients before, during and after surgery
• Prepare equipment and medication for anesthesia administration
• Assist in placing and managing invasive monitoring devices such as arterial lines, central lines and pulmonary artery catheters
• Provide support in airway management, such as intubation and extubation
• Monitor patient vital signs and adjust anesthesia levels as needed
• Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner
• Assist with patient transport and hand off to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU)
