Responsibilities: Responsible for the technical and physical operation of the ceramics area. Maintains a smooth workflow through the studio with timely firings and upkeep of kilns and other equipment. Works collaboratively with ceramics teachers and students. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Loads, fires, and unloads kilns and distributes fired work on a timely basis. Mixes shop glazes and occasionally introduces new glazes. Maintains orderliness of ceramic studios, glaze area, kiln, and storage area. Assists in the general maintenance of ceramic studios. Maintains and repairs equipment (except electronics). Meets with maintenance and skilled crafts workers when necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of the area. Meets with teachers to establish firing schedule, discuss needs, and provide suggestions how to improve the program. Recommends appropriate contacts for equipment and facility repairs when necessary. Other duties as assigned.
