About The Position

We are seeking a Centralized Scheduler, also referred to as a Hospital Admitting Clerk or Admitting Scheduler, in our Admitting/Registration Department. As a Centralized Scheduler, you routinely schedule tests/procedures for all patients where services occur as a scheduled event. This may include coordinating patient appointments, admissions, and registration processes to ensure efficient and accurate access to care. Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires)
  • Knowledge of multiple insurance authorization requirements
  • 1-2 year previous experience in a hospital environment preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Customer Services experience required
  • Strong clerical and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • The centralized scheduler is directly accountable to the Admitting Leadership the Centralized Scheduler routinely schedules tests/procedure cases for all patients where services occur as a scheduled event.
  • This may include, but is not limited to; Clinic visits, Surgery, G.I. Lab, Cardiac Cath Lab, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, Nutritional Services, Infusion units or any other location where scheduling of a test or procedure may occur.
  • Coordinates with departments as necessary.
  • Ensures that accurate, complete and thorough patient demographics are entered into the computer system, including insurance and authorizations if applicable.
  • Notifies departments as necessary of various services that may require, equipment, instrumentation and supplies from outside vendors for scheduled surgeries.
  • Prepares and distributes the surgical schedule and on call list to appropriate departments or personnel.
