About The Position

SUMMARY Decontaminate equipment, case carts and instruments per specific established procedures as they are received in decontam. Adheres to hospital policy and procedure regarding safety and infection control – including appropriate hand washing. Maintain equipment in a clean, safe working condition, thoroughly cleans & inspects all equipment coming back from patient use according to manufacturer’s recommendations. Prepare instrument trays for procedural use. MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED A high school diploma or GED equivalent, AND six (6) months of Sterile Processing or Operating Room Technician experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule. May be called out to work off-shift in emergency situations. May be required to lift approximately 30 pounds. May be exposed to hazardous materials, sharp objects and infectious diseases Knowledge of Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint. BLS required. Must obtain IAHCSMM certification in one year or risk loss of employment.
