About The Position

Under the guidance of the Center Manager, the Center Support Supervisor helps ensure daily operation run smoothly in (at least two classrooms), in accordance with State Licensing requirements, Federal regulations, and program policies and procedures. This position directly supports the Center Manager by supervising, mentoring, and coaching Resource Teachers and Associate Teachers, helping maintain high-quality service delivery for children and families.The Center Support Supervisor also helps communicate program philosophy and expectations to staff and families.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years as a Lead Teacher at Wu Yee.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capacity to coach, mentor, and help implement early childhood best practices.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse children, staff, and families.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Bachelor's degree in child development, early childhood education, educational leadership, or a bachelors' degree related field with proof of 24 ECE units in Early Childhood Education.
  • Valid California Child Development Site Supervisor permit.
  • Frequently walk, talk, listen, and use hands for tasks.
  • Often stand, sit, reach, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, or crawl.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in emergencies lift up to 40 pound child.
  • Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Center Manager in overseeing daily center operations to help ensure full staffing and compliance with required Title 5 adult-child ratios, and staff Volunteers, and interns follow program standards and Wu Yee policies.
  • Assist in administering Admissions agreements with enrolled families and help complete required data entry to CP.net.
  • Under the Center Manager's guidance, help facilitate parent orientations, case management meetings, consultations, and culturally relevant environment for children and families.
  • Support the implementation of age-and developmentally appropriate curriculum, review written lesson plans from classroom teachers, and suggest enhancements as needed.
  • Help ensure that classroom and center activities align with licensing requirements (Title 22) Head Start Program Performance Standards, California Department of regulations.
  • Provide coaching and regular feedback to Resource Teachers and Associate Teachers to support their professional growth and improve teaching practices.
  • Support staff in completing all formal observations, screenings, and child assessments in accordance with the service are timeline.
  • Provide coverage in the classroom or at other sites when needed.
  • Maintain ongoing, timely communication with program staff to support effective collaboration.
  • Help ensure accurate documentation of family contacts, attendance, meal counts, and other required records.
  • Collaborate with the Center Manager and other program leaders to arrange and help facilitate meetings and mandated trainings.
  • Provide classroom observations and suggestions for improving lesson planning and classroom management.
  • Help monitor the availability of supplies and equipment, and report maintenance needs to ensure compliance with licensing standards and program quality guidelines.
  • Encourage family participation in the center activities, field trips, events, the Parent Committee, and Policy Council.
  • Ensure children with Diverse learning needs receive individualized support; elevate concerns to the Center Manager, Education Manager, or multidisciplinary teams as needed.
  • Execute and model Teaching Pyramid strategies, Kimochis, and follow ups.
  • Help teaching staff integrate IFSP/IEP goals into lesson plans and daily routines.
  • Communicate with program staff, the Mental Health Consultant, and Family Advocates about any concerns related to the children's development.
  • Support staff in conducting daily health checks and following health and hygiene procedures.
  • Help the Center Manager oversee the sign-in/out sheet for accuracy before submission.
  • Help monitor playground safety checks and ensure staff are completing them properly.
  • When needed, assist with food preparation and ensure compliance with program food safety policies.
  • Maintain classroom safety and perform cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Help track and submit accurate meal counts.
  • Participate in annual program self-assessment and ongoing professional development.
  • Support the Center Manager in planning for staffing needs and developing center training plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Center Manager or program leadership.
