About The Position

The Cary Arts Center and Page-Walker Arts & History Center are seeking outgoing individuals at least 18 years of age who are enthusiastic about giving back to the community by serving in an administrative role; providing exemplary customer service to citizens visiting or contacting our facilities for programs, classes, performances, rentals and special events. As a Center Aide, you will be part of our citizen support team. Your passion for providing exceptional customer service contributes to our high level of customer satisfaction. Often you will be the initial contact with our citizens, communicating in an open, helpful, and engaging manner, focusing on finding the right solution with each person. This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year. Locations Cary Arts Center: 101 Dry Avenue, Cary Page-Walker Arts & History Center: 119 Ambassador Loop, Cary

Requirements

  • General knowledge of computers and related software
  • General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and filing systems maintenance
  • General knowledge of cash collection procedures
  • Ability to remain organized, multitask, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate with coworkers and the public tactfully and constructively
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of policies, procedures and services of the center, division and department
  • Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED.

Nice To Haves

  • Some in-person customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of computers and some Microsoft Office 365 proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm welcome to all visitors; provide above and beyond customer service via in-person, telephone, or email
  • Respond to in-person inquiries in a timely manner with quality service skills
  • Handle room reservation inquiries for private reservations, programs, and events
  • Work rentals and Special Events
  • Assist with the setup and takedown for events and programs
  • Proactively identify facility needs and suggest solutions
  • Keep citizens in the loop by providing Town information and materials or redirect the citizen to the appropriate staff
  • Notifies patrons of cancelations, changes or updates
  • Model personal behavior that is consistent with the Town of Cary values and complies with Cary's policies and procedures
  • Open and/or close and secures the facility when assigned
  • Register citizens for Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources programs, maintains citizen account records, and sell items
  • Provide town information and materials to citizens or redirects the citizen to the appropriate staff
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new temporary staff
  • Enforces Cary's policies and procedures
  • Perform other job-related tasks as required.
