Over 40 years of proven success in transportation Multiple divisions including Flatbed, Tanker, Van, and more Full-service repair facilities and strong support network Position Overview As a Flatbed Semi-Truck Driver at DHT, you will be responsible for safely transporting freight across the U.S. This position requires prior verifiable experience with flatbed semi-trucks, preferably including B-trains, and expertise in tarping, chaining, and load securement.

Requirements

  • CDLA
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Minimum of 1 year of semi- truck driving experience
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of flat- bed semi -truck driving experience -B train experience preferred
  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • Ability to pass drug screen
  • Ability to physically perform job; including bending, lifting, reaching, climbing, folding/unfolding, throwing, and securing 4- and 8-feet tarps, handle and deploy straps, chains and cables
  • OTR availability (typically 5 days out and 2 days in schedule. Candidate would have the option to stay out longer)
  • Verifiable Experience chaining, strapping, tarping loads, including coiled steel
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission

Responsibilities

  • Operate flatbed semi-trucks for OTR hauls
  • Perform tarping, chaining, and securement of loads
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting goods
  • Fit 4-foot and 8-foot tarps over loaded product to safely secure it to the trailer
  • Operate an industrial vehicle according to applicable state and federal transportation laws
  • Transports loads safely and in a timely manner over required route, obeying all traffic laws
  • Maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals
  • Assists with loading and unloading of materials, using specialized equipment when warranted
  • Maintains work orders, signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork
  • Facilitates routine service on trucks and reports equipment issues to appropriate parties
  • Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns
  • Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes
  • Verify load weight distribution as product is loaded onto the trailer
