About The Position

US 1 Shorthaul is expanding its Travel Yard Driver Division and is seeking top-tier CDL A drivers who excel in yard spotting, hostling, and precision backing. This role is for drivers comfortable being on the road up to 90% of the time, supporting sites across the U.S. It involves high-volume, precision trailer moves in fast-paced yard environments, focusing on drop & hook only, with no OTR freight or freight handling. The position requires flexibility and adaptability to work in new environments and changing sites, representing US 1 Shorthaul professionally while supporting multiple customer locations nationwide. US 1 Shorthaul provides short-division logistics services across 48 states, emphasizing safety, integrity, and operational excellence, utilizing modern yard and supply chain technology.

Requirements

• Valid CDL Class A
• 18 months verifiable experience (OTR or qualifying local/yard experience)
• Proven experience backing 48’–53’ trailers to dock doors
• No preventable DOT accidents in the past 3 years
• Clean Clearinghouse & acceptable PSP
• Ability to work different shifts, climates, and locations
• Must pass background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

• Execute high-volume, precision trailer moves in fast-paced yard environments
• Spot, hostle, and switch 48’–53’ trailers safely and efficiently
• Perform drop & hook only (no freight handling)
• Conduct yard audits and pre/post-trip inspections
• Operate yard trucks and day cabs at customer sites nationwide
• Represent US 1 Shorthaul professionally while supporting multiple locations
