About The Position

Electric Motor & Contracting Company, Inc., established in 1960, is one of the largest independently owned repair facilities for electrical rotating machinery, pumps, and switchgear in the United States, located in Hampton Roads, Virginia. The company prides itself on maintaining a clean, state-of-the-art, air-conditioned facility, providing quality service to its customers, and employing and retaining great people. They are currently seeking a CDL Truck Driver to join their team.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Have Class B CDL with excellent driving record.
Minimum 2 years’ experience driving tandem trucks.
Hazmat endorsement required or must be able to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Must have knowledge of local area (Hampton Roads).
Must be physically able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and be able to climb in/out/around truck beds.
Must be able to work overtime as needed, including extending hours outside of the assigned shift, weekends/holidays, to meet customer needs (24/7/265 service industry).
All positions require drug and background screening.

Responsibilities

Pickup and deliver equipment of various sizes/shapes/weights.
Maintain Class B CDL and pass all medical physicals and drug screens as required by the FMSCA.
Chain and tarp own loads.
Effectively carry out written and verbal instructions.
Competently complete all required paperwork and maintain time records/driver logs (Elogs) as needed.
Perform other tasks as instructed when not on the road, including washing vehicles, assisting mechanics, maintenance/cleaning of shop, etc.
Maintain a professional appearance and interact professionally at all times with customers.
Work overtime and weekends as required, including some overnight travel/stays.
