About The Position

The CDL Driver Trainer provides safety and route training to Direct Operations drivers. Hopelink provides public transit through a contract with King County Metro. The service offers bus routes using smaller buses that can go off regular routes to pick up and drop off passengers. The Trainer performs all regular training functions to prepare an individual for the driver position and provides leadership, guidance, and training to drivers with various levels of experience (including drivers with or without a Commercial Driver License (CDL)) with an emphasis on safety and customer service. The ideal candidate will have experience with training or adult learning and is committed to working on a team in a mission driven environment ensuring a safe and positive experience for all Hopelink passengers. A valid Washington State driver’s license with passenger endorsement is preferred.

Requirements

  • Two or more years teaching/training in adult education
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced computer/technology proficiency
  • Flexible availability, including early mornings, nights and weekends
  • Valid Washington State Class C CDL with passenger endorsement
  • Due to Federal Regulations, this position is considered a Safety Sensitive Position, therefore employees are required to undergo a full criminal background check and pre-employment Federal DOT drug screening, and are subject to random screenings, which include THC among other restricted substances.

Responsibilities

  • Perform new driver training and orientation class and assists with any driving test that may be required.
  • Observe and assess student performance and development aligned with training benchmarks.
  • Perform driver re-training as necessary.
  • Provide in-the-field assistance and may operate vehicles as needed.
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations in the field as needed.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the WA CDL Guide including basic FMCSA driver requirements.
