About The Position

Waste Connections is looking for motivated individuals to join our CDL Driver Training Program in North Charleston, SC. Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain a CLP
  • Pass DOT physical and drug screening
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds, climb in and out of truck cab repeatedly, bend, stoop, twist, and reach

Nice To Haves

  • Waste experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Independently obtain a Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP)
  • Complete company-sponsored CDL training program
  • Learn and follow DOT regulations and safety standards
  • Operate commercial vehicles under supervision during training
  • Transition to full CDL Driver role upon certification
  • Ability to safely operate a garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste.
  • Waste experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read route sheets and service each customer identified on the sheet or assigned by the dispatcher.
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
  • Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading, at times with no helpers.
  • Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
  • Courteous interaction with our customers and perform other job-related duties as assigned
