About The Position

The Driver-in-Training will be an active participant in the hands-on learning and training required to obtain a Commercial Driver's License in preparation for becoming a fully-licensed Bus Driver. Drivers-in-Training will be required to complete a minimum number of instructional exercises in a variety of settings during the program, which could last up to eight weeks.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate as required by Kentucky law.
  • Valid Kentucky driver’s license.
  • Age 21 or older, and all other qualifications in 702 KAR 5:080 - Bus Driver’s Qualifications, Responsibilities and Training.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in required classroom learning sessions.
  • Participate in hands-on driving training sessions.
  • Achieve mastery-level skills as a result of instruction and practice.
  • Create and maintain a profile at mycdl.ky.gov.
  • Successfully complete all training and obtain Commercial Driver's License.
  • Successfully complete the process to become a substitute or full-time bus driver for Boyle County Schools.
  • Strict adherence to the Policies and Procedures of the Boyle County Board of Education, the Employee Handbook and Kentucky Revised Statutes.
  • Maintain good attendance throughout the program, fulfilling obligations of days and hours worked.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
