Marine Services VLS Marine Services division offers state-of-the-art barge cleaning, repair, and gas-free facilities for various chemical solvents and downstream petroleum products. Qualifications Role Summary The CDL Class A Driver will be responsible for hauling Hazardous and Non-Hazardous waste and must be experienced on all equipment. This position includes out of state, and overnight runs. This also includes the need to support operations during high demand times to ensure the success of the business.

Requirements

  • Current Class A drivers’ license with hazardous materials and tanker endorsements.
  • Clean DMV driving record 2 years cross-country commercial driving experience, which included the completion of driver logs.
  • CDL Driver must pass DOT drug screens, physicals and road test.
  • 2 years experience driving/operating semi tractors, single and double roll-off trailers, tankers and box vans (up to 53 feet).
  • 2 years experience working in hazardous waste industry.
  • Working knowledge of DMV and DOT regulations pertaining to hazardous waste transportation.
  • Current 40-hour Hazwoper certificate.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical labor.
  • Ability to crawl, stand, bend, stoop, kneel and reach.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and protective clothing.
  • Ability to sit/drive for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds several times a day.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate commercial tankers, double roll-offs, semi-tractors, box vans and flatbed.
  • On-load/offload containers of hazardous waste.
  • Local and OTR responsibilities.
  • Use proper placards in accordance with DOT regulations.
  • Verify containers are properly marked and labeled.
  • Perform a variety of tasks related to the management/movement of hazardous waste, including but not limited to screening drums to verify waste characteristics; operating air monitoring equipment such as LEL and halide meters; cleaning tanks using various equipment such as pressure washers, pneumatic pumps, tornado vacuums, and air compressors.
  • Accurately complete, review and sign various forms such as driver logs, service and work orders, manifests, land ban forms, and bills of lading.
  • Maintain required, training, certificates and licenses to perform job functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
