About The Position

The CDL Driver-Field Technician (Night Work) plays a critical role in supporting construction operations by safely transporting equipment, materials, and personnel to various job sites during nighttime hours. This position ensures that all deliveries and pickups are executed efficiently and in compliance with federal and state transportation regulations. The role requires a strong focus on safety, punctuality, and communication to coordinate with site managers and other team members. Additionally, the technician is responsible for performing routine inspections and minor maintenance on vehicles to guarantee operational readiness. Ultimately, this position contributes to the smooth progress of construction projects by providing reliable logistical support during off-peak hours.

Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience operating commercial vehicles, preferably in the construction or logistics industry.
  • Ability to work night shifts consistently and adapt to varying schedules.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety protocols related to commercial vehicle operation.
  • Physical ability to perform loading/unloading tasks and vehicle inspections.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a field technician or in a construction support role.
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Basic mechanical skills for minor vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with site personnel and dispatch teams.
  • Certification in OSHA safety standards or related construction safety training.

Responsibilities

  • Operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently during night shifts to transport construction materials, equipment, and personnel to designated job sites across the United States.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and report any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with site supervisors and dispatchers to confirm delivery schedules, routes, and any special handling requirements.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment as needed, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle maintenance, and delivery records in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
