About The Position

SCA is seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Street Sweeper Operator to join our team. This position requires the operation of a CDL B vehicle with an air brake endorsement to service various locations, including state highways, new housing developments, local streets, bridges, and construction zones. The Operator is responsible for removing tire debris, trash, sand, and other roadway materials, as well as seasonal or weather-related highway debris. You may also be assigned to operate a dump/follow truck. The ideal candidate will provide prompt, reliable service while ensuring the vehicle is properly maintained and operated according to company policies and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or higher
  • Clean driving record and current DOT Medical Card
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the role with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Strong attention to detail and safety procedures
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. occasionally and perform repetitive tasks such as bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and walking
  • Requires eye-hand coordination, good depth perception, and close/distant vision
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment using hands and arms for extended periods

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience in waste management, environmental services, construction, or transportation industries preferred

Responsibilities

  • Secure all supplies and equipment before vehicle operation
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles
  • Conduct basic vehicle maintenance and ensure proper operation on the route
  • Report equipment failures, near misses, or accidents to your supervisor within 8 hours
  • Operate sweeper trucks and related vehicles according to best practices and safety guidelines
  • Maintain daily maintenance logs and complete required work order documentation
  • Deliver exceptional customer service with a positive, professional attitude
  • Work closely with the supervisor to improve route efficiencies and resolve on-road issues
  • Perform all duties as assigned, including operating additional support equipment (e.g., dump truck) when necessary
