About The Position

The CCV Helper is responsible for maintaining key aspects of continuous operation including but not limited to the payoffs, splices, accumulator, seal box and take-up. In addition the CCV Helper must assist the CCV Operator in setting up the line for startups and change-overs, extruder and cross-head cleaning, retrieving raw materials, SAP entries for good, defective, and scrap reels as well as routine housekeeping duties.

Requirements

  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • High school education or the equivalent.
  • Career Readiness Certification
  • Read, write, perform mathematical calculations, understand verbal or written instructions, provide verbal or written information to others, work continuous shift if requested, work scheduled or unscheduled overtime if requested, maintain a good attendance and punctuality record, follow all safety rules and maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility, work well with others, and distinguish colors correctly.
  • Must be able to move about freely in a heavy industrial environment. Distances of foot travel are over 150 yards each direction on ground floor. At times, stairs may be required to reach 4th or 6th floor in a short amount of time. These distances may be traveled multiple times per day.
  • Must be able to qualify as a fork lift operator.
  • This position requires standing and walking for most of the shift. This position requires lifting, bending, pushing and pulling. Some pushing of reels will be necessary. Most lifting is accomplished with material handling devices, i.e. reels movers, hoists, etc. Throughout the shift, incumbent must handle reels and tooling weighing 150+ pounds or more.
  • OJT - Will use company systems – SAP

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, load, unload, and store process reels.
  • Retrieve raw materials and assist in loading them as the process requires both compound on 6th floor and bare strand reels on the ground floor.
  • Bare reels and tow lines must be loaded, welded or crimped in a limited time allotment based upon the accumulator.
  • Assist in disposition of non-conforming products.
  • Observe material and insulated wire while line is running and alert the Operator if line is running out of tolerance.
  • Assist Operator in setting up line for product changeovers and after wire breaks.
  • Cut and install seals in seal box, manage seal opening and closure based upon cable OD.
  • Assist in stringing of production line (in a tube).
  • Assist in maintaining a clean work area (general housekeeping).
  • Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor.
