Job Title: CBWS Community School Site Assistant Classification: Student Employee (non-exempt) Name and Address of Employer: St. Olaf College, 1520 St. Olaf Ave, Northfield, MN 55057 If the position requires the student to work off campus, provide the name and address here: 500 Lincoln Parkway, Northfield, MN 55057 Department Name: Community Based Work Study Unit Number (5 digits): 13001 Length of Position: See Employment Authorization Contact Person/Supervisor: Janet Lewis Muth, Youth Development Coordinator, Northfield Public Schools Pay Rate (Check One) CBWS Special Hourly Rate Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): The Site Assistant assists in supervising program activities; interacts with children and youth of all ages and their families; assists in preparing the site for afternoon and evening activities; enforces program behavioral rules and safety guidelines, and assists in the programming of site activities. Transferable Skills: ● Working with youth ● Attention to detail ● Collaboration ● Knowledge of working with a nonprofit organization Duties and Responsibilities: Assist Site Leader and Club Leaders/Teachers with youth activities, which include: literacy skill development, making connections for social and emotional learning, leading art projects and facilitating movement activities. Monitor the behavior of students to ensure their safety, as well as compliance with behavioral guidelines, rules and standards of the program. Enforce all health and safety rules of the program including sanitary rules, playgroup rules, rules of supplies and equipment. Assist with science and art projects and movement activities or lead various activities for K-5 students, such as homework help, outdoor games, and assisting with daily set up and clean up and additional tasks as assigned. Work hours are on-site, at all three Northfield Elementary Schools (Greenvale, Spring Creek, and Bridgewater), and Northfield Middle School (Middle School Youth Center), Monday-Thursday, 3pm – 5pm, evenings available at Greenvale from 5:00pm - 7:30pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays only.
