The Central Billing Office (CBO) Billing Team Lead is responsible for leading a designated billing team and function to meet established performance standards. Responsible for demonstrating knowledge of the team’s core processes and directing the work, efforts, and results of a team. Will create an environment of high team performance, engagement, satisfaction and retention through goal setting, recognition, coaching and effective talent management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of related experience leading a team required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products as well as practice management and electronic health record systems
  • Extensive knowledge of insurance, benefits, medical terminology, and medical billing
  • Experience working with billing and accounts receivable for both commercial and non-commercial payors
  • Knowledge of multiple coding systems, including Level 1 HCPCS and Level 2 HCPCS
  • Strong interpersonal skills - ability to develop relationships and collaborate and influence in a centralized organization.
  • Confident, independent thinker and strong decision-making ability when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment with a proven track record of results.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Exudes professionalism in presentation.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in the English language.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when performing desk duties.
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting.
  • Adequate hearing to perform duties in person and over telephone.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading materials from printed sources and computer screens.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee assigned billing staff and billing/claims processes.
  • Audit team performance and results, adjusting for improvement as indicated.
  • Identify and propose opportunities to maximize revenue.
  • Carry out talent management processes, including training, development, and evaluation of staff.
  • Run the AR report and distribute to the staff
  • Perform all medical billing responsibilities in support of the team, including:
  • Handle insurance billing/claims
  • Submit claims to insurance
  • Communicate billing/claims information to insurance carriers
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
