BASIC FUNCTION SUMMARY Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, maintain and perform organizational level maintenance calendar inspections on aviator’s personal survival equipment and aircraft installed safety/survival equipment in accordance with applicable manuals, publications, and instructions. Possess a working knowledge of Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2, NAVAIR 11-110-1.1, 13-1-6 series manuals and other applicable maintenance/technical manuals. Maintains and contributes to an effective Quality Management System meeting the requirements of AS9110/ISO 9001. Must have a working knowledge of aircrew survival equipment and applicable explosive devices. Must be able to read, speak, write legibly, and understand the English language. Must be customer oriented.

Requirements

  • Completion of U.S. Navy Aircrew Survival Equipmentman “PR” “A” school or equivalent Air Force or Army military occupational specialty (MOS) course required.
  • Must have two (2) years’ experience in maintaining aviator’s personal survival equipment and aircraft installed safety/survival equipment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Must be able to work weekends, other shifts and overtime as required.
  • Must adhere to Company policies/procedures and management instruction.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and Company Proprietary data.

Responsibilities

  • Work from Government instructions and Maintenance Instruction Manuals and Company directives to perform maintenance repair and installation of aircraft life support systems and aircrew personal survival equipment.
  • Shall become qualified and certified under the Explosive Handling Personnel Qualification and Certification Program and maintain certification.
  • Transport, install and remove Cartridge Actuated Devices (CADs) and Pyrotechnics.
  • Pack, unpack, preserve, and maintain parachutes and seat survival kits.
  • Repair, fit, maintain, and preserve pilots’ personal equipment
  • Perform corrosion control and prevention as required.
  • Issues and receives aircrew survival equipment.
  • Initiate and update checkout/return records.
  • Assemble, place in service, and perform calendar inspections on oxygen mask assemblies, survival vest, helmets, and other related safety/survival equipment.
  • Perform aircraft conditional and special inspections of installed safety/survival equipment.
  • Maintain records for parachute and personal equipment for accountability and inspection due dates.
  • Adjust, maintain, and perform minor repairs on sewing machines.
  • Construct fabric items using sewing machine and perform hand sewing on fabrics.
  • Remove, install, and repair slide fasteners, grommets, snap fasteners and Velcro closures on personal survival equipment and other type fabrics.
  • Orders required survival equipment and supplies.
  • Install and test survival radios.
  • May be required to perform collateral duty inspection or CDQAR functions.
  • Identifies and treats corrosion.
  • Completes applicable maintenance forms.
  • Maintain appropriate records of all work accomplished to include efficient entry of electronic data into NALCOMIS/OOMA.
  • Briefs and debriefs flight personnel on use and condition of survival equipment.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work center.
  • Must comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities, and job assignment to include the exposure and clean up of bodily fluids on gear that may occur from aircrew.
  • Complies with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, and Tool Control Programs.
  • Assist as directed to ensure safety, security, and preservation of Government/Company Owned equipment.
  • Deals with the customers, co-workers, and management in courteous, professional, and effective manner.
  • May be required to travel via military and/or commercial air/ground in support of recovery missions, training detachments, hurricane evacuations, or other off-site support.
  • Must be able to meet any Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position.
  • Must be able to interface with Government Representatives.
  • Maintains the highest ethical personal and professional standards.
  • Other projects and initiatives as assigned.
