About The Position

Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS) is currently seeking a Cathodic Protection Technician to join our team! This position will conduct cathodic protection surveys, corrosion control services and corrosion inspections to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements for gas pipelines and facilities. This is full time work in Richmond, Virginia. 10% out-of-state travel is possible. You will report from home to the jobsite in Richmond, VA. What will you be doing? This position will be a key member of the Cathodic Protection/Corrosion team.

Requirements

  • Certification, diploma or degree in corrosion technology or related field.
  • 2 or more years of related experience with cathodic protection systems.
  • AMPP/NACE certified Cathodic Protection Tester (CP Level 1 Certification) or higher or Equivalent Certification.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, independent, innovative, responsible and a phenomenal teammate with a strong work ethic and initiative.
  • Role requires a valid driver's license, which will be verified with a motor vehicle check prior to hire.
  • Physical Requirements include but are not limited to: Grasping, kneeling, lifting (objects up to 100 pounds), bending, stooping, climbing, crawling, pulling hand over hand, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Administrative Requirements (Both Field & Office) include but are not limited to: Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone/video calls.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CFR 49, Parts 192, 193 and 195 is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regulatory-driven cathodic protection surveys and maintenance to ensure compliance and prevention program effectiveness.
  • Test and troubleshoot cathodic protection system and equipment to ensure effective operation.
  • Tests, inspects, and maintains rectifiers, test stations, and coupons.
  • Assist with interference testing
  • Assist with Close Interval Surveys (CIS)
  • Perform minor field repairs
  • Assist with cathodic protection system installations
  • Assist the atmospheric corrosion inspection and maintenance program to maintain equipment integrity and ensure compliance.
  • Utilize Pipeline Compliance System (PCS) software to record, monitor, and evaluate cathodic protection and atmospheric corrosion data to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
