About The Position

Levy Sector is hiring a Catering Server for the Chicago Botanic Gardens. This position involves taking food and beverage orders and efficiently delivering items to dining room guests. The role requires a warm greeting of guests, prompt service, and maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards. The Catering Server will also assist with guest requests, demonstrate knowledge of menu items, and communicate effectively with back-of-the-house staff to ensure accurate order delivery.

Responsibilities

• Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room.
• Take food and beverage orders efficiently, following established steps of service.
• Deliver food promptly and professionally.
• Maintain safe food handling and sanitation standards.
• Follow up periodically to assist with any additional needs or requests.
• Demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients.
• Advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks when requested.
• Accommodate reasonable requests and note preferences.
• Demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens as needed.
• Communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure correct order delivery.
• Exhibit exceptional communication skills and get along well with others.
• Remain flexible and patient when communicating with guests and staff.
• Collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures.
• Promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding personal or medical information shared.
• Address complaints or issues promptly and relay relevant information to supervisor.
• Ensure the dining room is properly set up before and after service.
• Keep the area clean and neat while meeting established sanitation standards.
• Operate a variety of equipment, including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
• Work with staff of other departments during special events and functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
