About The Position

Sodexo's Campus Segment is seeking a Catering Manager 4 for SUNY Plattsburgh, located in Plattsburgh, NY. The Catering Manager will be responsible for the organization, coordination, and execution of university/campus and third-party events. The ideal candidate will have a strong catering background, experience with upscale events, and the ability to plan, execute, and coordinate multiple catering functions simultaneously. Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience managing catering operations, preferably in a college or university environment.
  • Strong background in event planning, upscale catering, and large-scale event execution.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Financial acumen, including managing budgets, labor, and food costs.
  • Creativity in menu development and event design.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a diverse team toward excellence.
  • Commitment to food safety and sanitation compliance (HAACP).
  • A passion for hospitality, innovation, and providing outstanding guest experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the organization, coordination, and flawless execution of all campus and third-party catering events.
  • Manage Sodexo resources, recipes, and catering systems to ensure efficiency across food production, inventory, deliveries, and procurement operations.
  • Lead the sales process for catering and conference services, working directly with clients to design exceptional events that meet expectations and budgets.
  • Supervise and develop employees by assigning and prioritizing activities, maintaining operating standards, and ensuring proper training and resources.
  • Manage food and labor costs while maintaining Sodexo's high standards for quality, service, and presentation.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with all Sodexo and regulatory standards, including food and physical safety—driving a Zero Harm mindset.
  • Promote a customer-centered culture focused on exceeding expectations and building long-term client relationships.
  • Coordinate all catering initiatives to drive sales growth and monitor results.
  • Maintain service levels that enhance client satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Follow all HACCP standards and demonstrate responsiveness and resourcefulness in addressing client and customer needs.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts based on catering business demands, including some nights and weekends.
