About The Position

The Catering Service Attendant prepares and serves food at scheduled functions under the supervision of the Catering Manager. This position is primarily responsible for set up, service, break down and clean up of multiple functions or areas on campus. The role requires interaction with other employees, customers, and suppliers, ensuring quality work within deadlines, and effective teamwork. The attendant must maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies, and utensils within the work area, set up buffet tables, clean tables and chairs, and handle trash and waste properly. Customer service is a key component, as the attendant greets customers, resolves complaints, and serves food and beverage orders. Compliance with health and safety standards is essential, including proper food handling and use of personal protective equipment. The position does not directly supervise anyone but requires teamwork to complete tasks.

Requirements

  • Ability to interact with a diverse and high volume customer base in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and accomplish tasks without direct instruction.
  • Ability to answer basic questions regarding unit operations and direct other questions appropriately.
  • Possess the ability to meet Dining unit specific uniform standards.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a driver's record in good standing.

  • Experience in a catering or food service environment.
  • Knowledge of HACCP standards and food safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve food at scheduled functions under the supervision of the Catering Manager.
  • Set up, service, break down, and clean up multiple functions or areas on campus.

  • Maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies, and utensils within the work area.
  • Set up buffet tables and food items according to pre-established standards.
  • Clean tables and chairs before, during, and after meal service.
  • Greet customers courteously and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Handle food items appropriately during preparation and service.
  • Ensure proper presentation and portion control according to HACCP standards.
  • Assemble and deliver all food and supplies for catered functions.
