About The Position

This role is focused on driving category growth and retail execution for a leading consumer packaged goods portfolio. The Category Manager will analyze market trends, shopper behavior, and sales data to develop actionable insights that enhance product placement, assortment, and merchandising strategies. Working closely with sales, marketing, and cross-functional teams, you will ensure initiatives align with both consumer needs and retailer objectives. You will lead projects that optimize category performance, develop tools and frameworks for better decision-making, and provide strategic recommendations to key stakeholders. This position requires balancing multiple priorities while delivering impactful results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Up to 20% travel may be required to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced education is a plus.
  • 3–6 years of category management experience in consumer-packaged goods, preferably with major food or mass retailers.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate data into clear, compelling recommendations.
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional projects and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation abilities tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Solid understanding of retail dynamics, shopper behavior, and new product launches.
  • Highly organized, resourceful, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver category insights, recommendations, and scorecards to guide retail strategy and drive growth.
  • Build and implement assortment and shelving guidelines, ensuring best practices are adopted across key customers.
  • Leverage syndicated and internal data sources to provide actionable analysis for internal teams and external partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance insight capabilities.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and adapt strategies to meet evolving business needs.
  • Monitor category performance and lead corrective actions to optimize results, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
