About The Position

The Category Manager will develop, negotiate, implement and manage procurement programs within COP categories with emphasis on providing UniPro Members with enhanced revenue returns on their purchases. Category management will include Commodity Beef, Veal, Lamb, Pork and Poultry. Key responsibilities include: 1) Further development and expansion of the Boxed Beef, Pork and Poultry Titled Sales programs 2) Partnering with key supplier partners to layout category actions plans that will maximize Member participation and help drive the financial performance of the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required, with minimum of two (2) years foodservice experience required.
  • Detail oriented, with well-developed organizational and time management skills.
  • Must demonstrate proven written, verbal, presentation and negotiation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within Commodity COP categories is strongly preferred.
  • Intermediate skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, negotiate, implement and manage category initiatives designed to provide the UniPro Membership with competitive programs and year-round availability of products within the Commodity COP categories.
  • Effectively communicate the process, direction, strategies, features and benefits of the Commodity COP categories to UniPro staff, UniPro Membership and supplier partners.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining category reporting, analyzing program information and assisting in the daily management of the Commodity COP categories.
  • Assist the Departmental Vice President in the development of budgets, program strategies and tactical implementation in accordance with company goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate and implement strategic buy opportunities for all UniPro Members as market conditions and/or supplier product availability dictate.
  • Act as the category liaison between UniPro Members and the Approved Suppliers as well as potential new suppliers in both proactive and reactive situations.
  • Support the Departmental Vice President in executing the UniPro Boxed Beef, Pork and Poultry Titled Sales programs including the solicitation and onboarding of new Members.
  • Serve in a supporting role to Member Services Account Managers when necessary.
  • Assist in the collection and maintenance of Member revenue returns in the form of EDA and SPA in all Commodity COP categories.
  • Provide departmental updates via Procurement News as well as provide additional communication to UniPro Members and UniPro Senior Management and employees through established company channels.
  • Assists UniPro Marketing team efforts via ProForma and to secure supplier participation in these programs in accordance with company objectives.
  • Negotiate, evaluate and approve show special allowances as proposed by the suppliers for all UniPro Purchasing Conferences.
  • Provide a supporting role on special projects as directed by the Departmental Vice President, Commodity Center of the Plate.
