Job Summary: We are seeking a highly capable and strategic Category Manager to lead sourcing and supplier management for Point of Sale (POS) materials and Rewards Program suppliers in a convenience store retail environment. This role will support marketing, customer engagement, and in-store execution by ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of retail signage, display materials, branded merchandise, and customer rewards items across a nationwide network of convenience stores. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in multi-location retail procurement and understands the unique operational needs of fast-paced, high-volume convenience store formats.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of category management or strategic sourcing experience, preferably within convenience, grocery, QSR, or multi-site retail sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of in-store marketing production and fulfillment cycles for retail formats.
  • Familiarity with loyalty and rewards programs, promotional merchandise, and customer engagement tools.
  • Skilled in supplier negotiation, contract management, and cross-functional stakeholder collaboration.
  • Proficient in procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Coupa, Ariba, Workday, iCertis, etc) and data reporting platforms.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with 7-Eleven, Military Exchanges and other related retail stores preferred.
  • Skilled in setting up companies stores and/or promotional mobile trailers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience sourcing for high-volume retail networks (100+ locations) with decentralized execution models.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices related to printed materials, packaging, and promotional sourcing.
  • Professional certifications such as CPM, CPSM, or CIPS.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead procurement strategies for POS materials (e.g., shelf signage, window clings, floor decals, countertop displays) and rewards program components (e.g., loyalty merchandise, gift cards, promotional items, fulfillment services).
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across marketing, merchandising, loyalty, and retail operations to align sourcing strategies with promotional campaigns, seasonal rollouts, and customer experience goals.
  • Manage a distributed supplier base to support hundreds or thousands of convenience store locations, ensuring scalability, service consistency, and rapid deployment.
  • Optimize logistics, warehousing, and distribution models to minimize lead times and reduce total landed cost for in-store materials.
  • Run end-to-end sourcing events (RFP/RFI/RFQ), conduct supplier evaluations, negotiate pricing and terms, and oversee contracting and onboarding.
  • Ensure high standards of supplier performance related to speed, quality, accuracy, compliance, and on-time store delivery, especially during key sales periods.
  • Evaluate and select partners for digital rewards, third-party redemption platforms, and e-commerce fulfillment capabilities.
  • Monitor spend, savings, and supplier KPIs using procurement analytics tools, delivering regular reporting to leadership.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends in retail marketing, loyalty strategy, and convenience formats, leveraging innovations to enhance customer engagement and in-store impact. Create and own an innovation roadmap of vending machine capabilities including age verification.
