As we continue transforming our global supply chain, we’re looking for a Category Manager – MRO/Capex to take the lead in driving value, resilience, and efficiency across our operations. This position is on-site in our Houston headquarters. This is more than procurement — it’s strategy in motion. You’ll shape sourcing decisions that directly impact Verdant’s capital projects, global operations, and long-term competitiveness. You’ll collaborate with world-class engineers, operations leaders, and commercial teams within a growing specialty chemicals company that values transparency, teamwork, and sustainable performance. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or category management, ideally in chemicals, oil & gas, or manufacturing
  • Strong contract negotiation and financial analysis skills
  • Experience using SAP, BI tools, and Excel for data-driven decision-making
  • A proactive, self-directed leader who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead strategic sourcing strategies for Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) and Capital Expenditure (Capex) categories
  • Negotiate complex, high-value contracts that balance cost efficiency, reliability, and innovation
  • Manage supplier performance and build long-term partnerships aligned with Verdant’s project and operational goals
  • Partner with Engineering to advance capital projects through FEL stage gates by driving supplier strategy, cost optimization, and contract execution
  • Collaborate globally to align category strategies with business priorities and sustainability objectives
  • Stay ahead of market trends, feedstock dynamics, and regulatory shifts across the specialty chemical and energy sectors
